Nice to meet you
I am what you call, an over planner — someone who places high expectations on themselves and needs everything to be “perfectly aligned” before jumping into something new. I’ve quickly realized that to set things in motion, you have to just start or else it remains a thought that never comes to life.
It’s the same concept I’ve applied to running. If you do too much planning or thinking, you might not enjoy the ride. You’re probably wondering why this blog is dedicated to running…well it’s because running was something I never used to enjoy. It’s something I’ve always strayed away from trying out of fear. I was the kid who would attend friends track practices, even practice with them, but never competed out of self-doubt.
As I’ve entered a new time in my life, it was time to try something I wasn’t good at. It was time to stop clinging to the idea that I wasn’t athletic. In reality, we all start as beginners at some point, so why be extra harsh on ourselves? Especially when we could use that same energy to be a beginner, we won’t always be one anyway.
Rather than talking my friends heads off about upcoming races or cool new gear, that’s what this space is for. This blog is a safe zone, where I’ll share where my headspace is during running/training, a recap of mileage during the week, playlists, recommendations and most of all to be an open virtual space where you can feel connected.
Something to keep in mind is, “There’s no such thing as slow, just different degrees of fast.” If you’ve read all of this, I’m thankful for you. See you real soon!
